A World of Kindness

In this session we will explore several texts and the uses of the Hebrew word Chessed, often translated as kindness, to understand: 1) The paradoxical centrality and problem of kindness and 2) How using intertextual sources can define foundational concepts and offer practical and spiritual wisdom. We will look at old texts and ask contemporary questions, and reflect with an optional creative journaling prompt. Hebrew knowledge helpful but not necessary (translations provided).

Esther Amster is involved in teaching, studying, and living with Torah texts and traditions as Rabbanit in Stockholm. She holds a Masters degree in Art Therapy and has studied and taught Torah in Israel and the U.S. before moving to Sweden.
