Leaving Zion – The Israeli Diaspora in Europe.

Being an immigrant isn’t what it used to be. In the 21 century, internet, social media, low cost travels and working from home bring new opportunities and allow people to live in one place, but still feel a deep belonging to a distant homeland. The book ”Leaving Zion: The Israeli Diaspora in Europe” (2019; Hebrew), paints a picture of the lives of Israelis living in Europe as immigrants with an hybrid identity. Journalist David Stavrou will talk about the book and living in two homes.

David Stavrou is a Stockholm based Israeli journalist who’s a regular contributor to Israeli daily “Haaretz”. His most recent book (Hebrew, ”Pardes”, 2020) tells the story of the Israeli diaspora in Europe. Stavrou is also a teacher and an authorized Stockholm guide.
