Originally from the US, I’ve lived in Denmark since 2003 and I received my PhD in social anthropology in 2015. My work has focused on everyday conflict, violence and insecurity and has brought me to Israel, Ukraine, India, the Philippines, on board cargo ships and into cryptographic code (and more!). Beyond my research, how I and other Jews are met by colleagues and students have led me to some reflections on being a practicing progressive Jew in what is often a left-wing academic environment.
