16-17 NOVEMBER 2024

Both Chava Rosenfarb a Yiddish writer from Montreal and Zenia Larsson a Swedish writer grew up in Lodz, went to Polish schools, survived the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz. Their correspondence conducted in Polish (book forthcoming in 2024) gives a deeply intimate portrait of two Jewish women writers’ struggles to launch and sustain careers as writers and sculptor (Zenia) in two different national and cultural contexts. Their letters provide fascinating autobiographical keys including their emotionally fraught relationship for a deeper understanding of their literary work.
