Being Jewish. Being Left. Being Quiet: Reflections on Academia from an Academic

The session is inspired by personal my experiences as a left-wing Jew and academic at Danish universities. I will begin with my own story and offer examples of students’ and colleagues’ disturbing analyses and assumptions. I will cap off my talk with some ideas about how social theory and Danish socialization play a role in the production of bias in a field of study that otherwise proports to be nuanced, attentive to context and able to uncover the frames of understanding that create bias.
